How to Prepare for a Maternity Session

Maternity Photo Sessions

When to Schedule:

The best time to plan your maternity photo session is in the last trimester, or at the end of your 6th, or in your 7th month.

Clothing:

There are three types of maternity sessions, and you can choose to be clothed, nude, or partially nude or a little of each.  Choose form fitted clothing, camisoles, etc that will accentuate your curves. If you can fit into a pair of your favorite jeans (unzipped of course) bring those with to go with a camisole. Casual clothes like this make great pictures!

Treat Yourself:

On the day of your photo shoot, relax, take it easy. Take a bubble bath, go to the spa, get a manicure or pedicure.

Right before your photo shoot…

Make sure you remove all elastic bandage from your belly or anything that will cause an indentation. Try wearing a loose nightgown, dress or robe before your session.

Props

If you want to take your session to the next level, feel free to bring babies new items such as baby booties, blocks, rubber duckys, stuffed animals, or other items that you have.

Tattoos, birthmarks and stretchmarks

Make sure that you notify your photographer if you want her to edit out stretch marks, tattoos or birthmarks.

And most importantly, R.E.L.A.X! the best maternity pictures are those of mothers who can show their love of motherhood!
