Tips for Engagement Photography
One of the top things couples ask me when they schedule their engagement session is what is the best wardrobe. A few things to keep in mind is to avoid wearing black/ white/ and patterns. Neutrals and brighter colors are great. Make sure that you blend and coordinate, not matching. For example, if you wear jeans and a blouse, have your hubby to wear khakis and a nice coordinating top. Dress at the same level of formality as your spouse. And most importantly, wear something comfortable! If you are uncomfortable, it will show in your pictures. You want to go for a more relaxed, natural look.
Get a manicure and a pedicure. Pamper yourself! Be prepared to be photographed at every angle.
Choose a location that is special to you and your spouse. If you are the outgoing type, think of carnivals, downtown scenery, etc. If you are more laid back, think of scenario places such as Perry Nature Area in Sioux Falls or Japanese Gardens.
Dare to think outside the box! Think cotton candy to share, hermit the frog, or baseball caps and sports equipment. If you want to take your shoot to the next level, bring props that match your personality style or hobbies.
Be mushy! People want to see you in absolute LOVE! Pretend as though the camera is not there, and you are sharing a moment of love with your significant other.
